Building Future Career Development Programs for Adolescents (NATCON 2004)

This paper summarizes the results of a discussion on the topic of building future career development programs for adolescents. The discussion was held at the National Consultation on Career Development in Ottawa, Canada in January 2004. The session began with an overview of the career counselling needs of secondary students relative to the Comprehensive Career Needs Survey conducted in Southern Alberta. The session then provided participants with an opportunity to discuss the future directions for the career development of students in junior and senior high school. Specifically, participants were asked to share their thoughts and ideas on what future career development programs for adolescents should look like, what would be ideal and how the field could get there.

Canadian Council for Career Development

CCCD is a self-initiated and self-funded umbrella for career development groups from across Canada. It provides a national advocacy voice for the career development field and promotes provincial/territorial collaboration on common issues such as certification, training, practitioner mobility, quality service and building the career development evidence base.
