Date(s) - 28/05/2018
12:00 am - 1:00 am

Educators are uniquely positioned to inspire, motivate and support young children in their academic, social/emotional and career development. While some might think that children between 3 and 8 are too young for career development, 96% of educators surveyed agree that young children learn skills very early in life that will help them manage their lifelong learning, careers and work, according to new CERIC-funded research from Memorial University.

This webinar will share the results of a three-year research project around what knowledge children from preschool to Grade 3 have about career and work concepts. It provides dynamic career education strategies, including practical tips, activities and examples that educators can use in their daily interactions with children. As Dr Cahill will explain, children’s career development is not a structured, pre-planned process where children are taught about jobs, work and careers. Instead, teachers are asked to reflect on the many ways in which they support and influence children’s future aspirations and career decisions.
