Investing in Inclusion

The theme of the 23rd Annual Supported Employment Conference is Investing in Inclusion. The focus of this conference is to bring together employers and professionals in an arena to demonstrate the value and business case in hiring a diverse team that focuses on people with disabilities and other underrepresented groups. The conference will provide practical methods for recruiting, hiring and retaining a diverse team in today’s fast moving economy.Workshop format is a 75 minute session (allowing 15 minutes for Q&A). CASE encourages submissions that focus on impact and innovation while providing information, resources and tools which delegates can utilize in their work towards employment inclusion.

The conference sessions will focus topics including but not limited to the following:

  • Employer engagement- benefits, methods and strategies
  • Supported Employment as it pertains to specialized diversities (mental health, autism, FASD etc)
  • Breaking the Myths of Hiring Persons with Disabilities
  • Employment equality-rights and responsibilities
  • Emerging Supported Employment practices
  • Business Models of Supported Employment (self-employment, cooperatives, social enterprise etc)
  • Effective Discovery or Career Exploration practices, uncovering the talents and contributions of job seekers
  • Employment transitions (youth, aging, career enhancements)
  • Working with individuals with dual diagnosis
  • Culture, diversities and employment
  • Job Coaching strategies
  • Utilizing Social Media
  • Change Management
  • Self-care for the professional
  • Unique methods of successful job development
