Applications are currently being accepted for a full-time temporary contract position as Employment, Training and Job Development Coordinator with Employment Ontario Employment Services (EOES) and other employment programs Monday to Thursday (28 hours per week) until December 31, 2018. These programs are funded by the Ministry of Advanced Education and Skills Development. This position is based out of our Cambridge office involving local travel to meet with employers and other stakeholders. The incumbent reports to the Program Manager for Youth, Employment and Family Services and includes some evening hours. The position requires a valid driver’s license, personal vehicle, and insurance.


 Conduct intake interviews and assessments, and assist clients to develop and achieve their employment goals

 Manage a case load of clients and inputs data into CaMS system

 Conduct an intake process for an established number of clients as per funder requirements.

 Refer clients to appropriate service providers including the Youth Job Connection program or community agencies as needed based on the assessment of personal needs and goals

 Prepare clients for employment by providing workshops on life skills, job search, and/or other pre-employment workshops and provide job coaching and job development

 Provide shared coverage for the Employment Resource Room

 Outreach activities in the community

 Other duties as assigned by the Program Manager and Team Lead

The following are essential knowledge, skills, abilities and requirements for this position:

 A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in the social, health sciences or career development field with one to three years’ direct experience in employment counselling, job development and job coaching

 Current clearance from a criminal records check. Must be able to meet criminal and other offense screening requirements necessary for the agency to maintain its service/funding contracts

 Demonstrated experience with motivational interviewing and group/workshop facilitation, and an understanding of employment issues, training and labour market trends

 Well-developed interpersonal & relationship building skills; ability to establish rapport with clients

 Excellent written and oral communication, assessment and case management skills; demonstrated sound judgment and the ability to be decisive in crisis situations; and familiarity with de-escalation techniques

 Strong cross-cultural/diversity perspective/awareness; excellent organizational/time management skills; and proven ability to work independently and as part of a team

 Computer literacy inclusive of proficiency in Microsoft Office, internet searches, database systems, client management software and email.

 Ability to work with multiple-barriered individuals with complex support needs within a strengths-based service delivery model, and experience in supporting clients in addressing employment barriers

 A valid driver’s license, daily use of a reliable vehicle and insurance

 A Career Development Practitioner certificate and experience with CaMS are assets
