Short-term  Full-Time Contract Opportunity (3 Months)

Who we are: A non-profit, charitable  organization dedicated to enhancing people’s capacity to participate in the labour market.


What we need: A positive, client-oriented individual who

  • Is inspired by helping people achieve their employment goals
  • Has Post-secondary education preferably in Career and Work Counseling, Social Services and/or a combination of education and relevant work related experience.
  • Has previous experience with Career Counselling/Career Development Theory, Individual Counselling/Assessment, Consultation/Case Management, Job Matching/Placement and in working with diverse populations (e.g. internationally trained Newcomers). Facilitation experience is considered an asset.
  • Has demonstrated experience in Communication, Building Trust, Information Monitoring, Managing Work and Planning and Organizing.


What you will do: Support Job Skills’ Newcomer Services and Programs by

  • Utilizing your strong interview and assessment skills to obtain and understand relevant background information, career goals and barriers to employment, to assist clients to develop job readiness skills and job search strategies.
  • Motivating your clients by working collaboratively with them, providing one-on-one counseling to assist them to achieve their employment goals, as identified through the Case Management process.
  • Assessing the need for additional assistance and be knowledgeable of community and social services resources available, to make the appropriate referrals through discovery.
  • As an active Team member, participating in community activities, job fairs, outreach to various service providers, employers and provide facilitation support as needed in moving clients towards their employment goals.
  • Supporting and monitoring clients as they work towards the successful achievement of their Employment Service Plans
  •  Developing/cultivating relationships with employers, to produce employment opportunities that may lead to permanent employment for participants

In this role, you will utilize your unique combination of skills and experience to support the administrative and reception functions of the Newcomer Services Division.
