The American College of Healthcare Executives Competencies Assessment Tool is offered as an instrument for healthcare executives to use in assessing their expertise in critical areas of healthcare management.
This resource was developed under the Meeting Workplace Skill Needs project. This intervention involves formal career guidance or career counselling that helps employees to identify the competencies they have, identify the competencies they need to develop and explore venues for where those competencies can be put to good use. The Workplace Skills Assessment and Development process (unlike Prior Learning and Assessment-PLAR) focuses both on skills identification by looking to an individual’s past and present learning, and on skills development which has a focus on future career goals and future learning. The intervention consists of a number of skills assessment and development sessions (3 to 10 depending on the person) with significant personal work to be completed by the individual in between sessions. This intervention is delivered by a trained professional career counsellor.
