Access to Medical Education in Canada: Do Differing Tuition Regimes Affect Access and Career Choice?

This report addresses the factors influencing access to medical education, using information from a survey of medical students enrolled in 2004–05. The study examines the survey responses according to whether students were enrolled in a low-, medium- or high-tuition medical program.

Catherine Ducharme is a bilingual communications specialist based in Toronto. She has been the Content and Communications Co-ordinator for the Canadian Education and Research Institute for Counselling (CERIC) since April 2012 and administers contactpoint.ca, an online community for career development professionals in Canada.
