Opening Panel: Workforce Intermediaries

There are eight pilot projects for Local Employment Planning Councils (LEPCs) two in each Ontario Region – as part of the provincial response to the Building a Workforce of Tomorrow, A Shared Responsibility report. These LEPCs focus on workforce planning and development in their area improve the ability of communities to ensure that they have the workforce talent needed to sustain and grow their economy. The eight pilots serve as workforce intermediaries in their area. The LEPCs benefit individuals, employers, and the local community. Four LEPC Executive Directors will discuss their evolving community role, the LEPC projects, recently released community labour market plans and the benefits of workforce intermediaries.

Four Regional Workforce Authorities will join Heather McMillan, Durham Workforce Authorities, for this informative panel presentation.

Closing Speaker: Design Thinking

Brock Hart, Overlap Associates, will offer a dynamic perspective on innovative and different ways of working. With an approach that puts real human needs at the core of the process, Brock will share how using human-centred methods to managing teams, guiding daily tasks, and building new professional skills can lead to better results.
