The 2013 OSCA conference will recognize and celebrate the diversity found in our schools across the province. We work with a variety of students and parents, from a diversity of cultures, ethnicities, religions and socio-economic backgrounds. It is important in this work that we have some understanding of these differences so we can better assist our students and their families. It is imperative that we are also be aware of the offerings of our community partners and we must work closely with them and share all our mutual resources.
In the twenty first century, it is clear that a comprehensive guidance program extends beyond guidance and career education, course selection and post secondary preparation to ensure that our students are ready to face life’s challenges. Diversity: Vive la Différence recognizes the role not only of the Guidance teacher-counsellor, but the role of all school staff and community partners in ensuring the diverse needs of our students are met and these diversities are celebrated.
