The catalyst behind the establishment of ERGs is common interest and a desire to create a positive workplace culture where employees and business partners with different backgrounds, lifestyles, and abilities are respected, have equal rights, and are given the opportunity to succeed. This rich diversity is especially important in today’s global economy as it allows companies to extend their reach and understanding of the world marketplace.
The untapped potential of these groups is the real story behind how diversity management has become a crucial asset to corporations. ERGs are contributing to diversity recruitment, retention, leadership, and professional development, as well as to reaching diverse customers, clients, suppliers, and communities. Commitment to diversity is not just the right thing to do. It has become a business imperative. ERGs will lead the way in next-generation business.
Note – All discussion groupings will include representatives from three groups: those delegates who want to begin to implement a Disability ERG; those delegates who have an existing ERG, but who want to revitalize or improve the value of the ERG; and those delegates who have a vibrant ERG, but who want to evolve it to more of a Business Resource Group.
