Outcome Employment Coordinator (Cantonese Speaking)

2017-05-10_1034Position: Full Time Two Year Funded Contract: Outcome Employment Coordinator (Cantonese Speaking)
Location: Markham, Richmond Hill
Hours: 40 hours per week. Hours must be flexible to meet the needs of the participants.
Salary: $51,646.40 (+5% in lieu of benefits & 4% vacation pay)

The Outcome Employment Project is an employment program specializing in the support of people with an intellectual disability whose first language is not English.

The Employment Coordinator will create plans, navigate supports and provide guidance and coaching for participants with an intellectual disability to identify goals and implement plans as they pertain to employment. The Employment Coordinator will create and maintain community partnerships and relationships with businesses to optimize opportunities available to the participants.


Position Responsibilities:

  • Identify and engage participants in the project
  • Meet with individuals and families to assess needs, complete intake and assist the participant with an Individual Employment Action Plans.
  • Engage participants in classroom and community based activities that build work habit and work skills that would lead to success in the workplace including work ethics, transit training etc.
  • Assist participants with the job search process including resume writing, basic tools for a job search in their chosen career etc.
  • Address any concerns related to achieving employment with the participant and provide alternative solutions and conduct on-site visits to evaluate their progress.
  • Assist individuals to apply for appropriate funding (grants/subsidies), develop partnerships and potentially support individuals and/or families to independently create or develop programs or
  • support using existing resources.
  • Act as ambassador and leader in the development of community capacity and awareness
  • Maintain partnership with York Region District School Board (Public and Catholic) as well as create partnerships and build relationships with local businesses/agencies for equal employment
  • opportunities.
  • Liaise between businesses and participants
  • Complete reporting requirements of the agency’s strategic plan and funder(s)
  • Submit funding proposals
  • To engage in projects as directed by Supervisor.



  • Bachelor of Arts/ Psychology, Developmental Service Worker/Social Service Worker/Vocational Worker or equivalent, relevant experience.
  • Excellent oral and written skills in English.
  • Ability to speak a second language (Cantonese) a requirement of the funding.
  • Ability to speak French is considered an asset
  • Strong understanding of developmental services and related government regulations
  • Experience working with employers and the employment service sector in York Region and surrounding areas
  • Outstanding public speaking & PowerPoint skills for presentations to various community services and employers to promote engagement in the initiative and equal opportunities for individuals who have an intellectual disability.
  • Excellent interpersonal and problem solving skills to work proactively as a member of a team.
  • Excellent planning and coordination skills
  • Positive and empathetic in working with people who have an intellectual disability and their families.
  • Proven sensitivity and ability to work within a culturally diverse population.
  • Demonstrated achievements in community development and community capacity building.
  • Superior computer skills in MS Office, Adobe in Design, search engine capabilities and the ability to create and maintain on line content HTML, Blog.
  • G-class license, with an exceptional driving record, access to a reliable and insured vehicle.
  • Flexibility to travel across Southern York Region including Markham, Richmond Hill, Thornhill, Stouffville and Vaughan.
  • Volunteer recruitment and training activities.
  • Demonstrated experience in writing and submitting proposals and reports
