Resource & Information Specialist/Administrative Assistant (Split Role)

Full-time One Year Contract Opportunity – Maternity Leave Replacement

35 hours/week

Brampton Employment Services and Programs Location

What we need: A positive, client-oriented individual who:

  • Is inspired by helping Clients in the self-directed Resource and Information area of Employment Services
  • Has demonstrated experience in Communication, Group Presentation & Facilitation, Coaching, intake/Needs Assessment, Administration, Data Entry, Planning and Organizing
  • Has excellent organizational skills with the ability to multi-task and problem solve
  • Has Post-secondary education in Social Sciences and/or a diploma in Social Services or Career and Work Counselling or equivalent work experience
  • Is knowledgeable about the Canadian labour market, Canadian workplace practices, job search strategies and techniques
  • Is able to work in a performance based system with a proven track record of meeting targets and outcomes
  • Has demonstrated outreach, organizational, administrative and team work skills
  • Has superior oral/written communication skills, excellent time management skills and the ability to multi-task in a fast paced environment
  • Is experienced working with Client databases
  • Is able to work with a diverse population, has a valid Driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle
  • Has flexibility regarding assigned work hours and work location, as required
  • Has expertise in Building Trust, Information Monitoring, Managing Work and in Planning and Organizing


What you will do: Support Job Skills’ Employment Services and Programs by:

  • Assisting Clients to access information and Resource Centre materials
  • Processing Second Career Applications, organizing Job Fairs and handling all online applications
  • Supporting Staff with Employer-related claims processing
  • Providing orientation and information to Clients regarding job search tools and strategies, Apprenticeship training, workplace safety and the Canadian workplace
  • Supporting Clients to develop job search strategies, identifying and matching career interests, skills and aptitudes
  • Providing support to the Job Link Program and with Ontario Works referrals
  • Monitoring resource area activity to assist clients in accessing e-mail, computers, internet, fax and photocopy equipment, to support job search
  • Supporting Facilitation Team through “on call” delivery of seminars and workshops to clients, both in-house and as part of outreach strategies, on an “as-needed” fill-in basis
  • Reviewing Client completed Needs Assessments and determining requirements for Assisted Services Assessment
  • Researching and analyzing current and future job market trends
  • Providing service information to Employers and accepting job postings
  • Answering telephones, scheduling of Centre appointments and greeting walk-in Clients
  • Entering of data into IR database
  • Maintaining of file notes and Client documentation
  • Preparing of monthly summary reports and other administrative duties, as required
