Job Description

Responsibilities & Duties:

Working as part of a team:

Conduct intake interviews with participants to determine needs and eligibility for programs
Group facilitation of Job Search and Career Exploration Programs for unemployed participants
(up to 12 per group), using recognized adult learning principles and techniques
Conduct lessons in essential job search strategies and employability skills
Meet with clients in groups or individually to:

- conduct needs assessments
- assist in developing and refining realistic Action Plans
- counsel participants for career planning, vocational selection, job search
- identify and overcome barriers to employment,
- administer and interpret career assessments
- create resumes and cover letters
- refer participants to appropriate services or interventions

Provide ongoing job coaching and job maintenance support to participants
Conduct follow up and exit interviews with clients
Possess the ability to develop and maintain positive and productive working relationships with participants
Maintain accurate and up-to-date case management related documentation, client files & database; must adhere to confidentiality

Qualifications and Requirements:

Must have:

Relevant Post Secondary education in Career Development, Counselling, Education, Social
Work, Psychology or a related field, or equivalent combination of experience and education.
Training in Employment Counselling theories, techniques and career assessment tools
Minimum 2 years’ experience in group facilitation and employment counseling for Job Search & Career Planning
Sensitivity to the needs of individuals experiencing a job loss cycle or re-entering the workforce
Experience working with individuals from diverse groups with a wide range of barriers to employment.
Sensitive to socio-cultural diversity
Positive attitude and collaborative approach to teamwork and have excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
Computer proficiency in word processing, internet web search, e-mail, Power Point
Competent in operating basic instructional equipment, printing, copying
Smart Board training would be an asset
