Join our cause as a JOB DEVELOPER/ CAREER DEVELOPMENT SPECIALIST for Goodwill, The Amity Group’s Burnside (Dartmouth, Nova Scotia) Career Centre. Our full time opportunity is 37.5 hours per week, with a generous benefits and pension plan.  Please outline salary expectations in your cover letter.

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Community College and/or University Degree in related discipline, with 2 years’ experience
  • Extensive background in marketing, sales, and employment counselling/job development
  • Demonstrated ability to consistently meet or exceed established targets
  • Deliver results independently
  • Proven ability to assess client needs and make appropriate referrals
  • Valid driver’s licence and reliable transportation

Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Conduct client intakes and develop employment action plans through interviewing and documentation
    • Develop attainable goals and training plans, coaching clients to achieve steps as outlined in their individual plans
    • Market clients to employers, develop strong business relationships, establish and implement successful marketing and job placement strategies
    • Support and assist clients in improving and implementing successful job search and job retention strategies
    • Provide outreach to the community to determine gaps in services and make suggestions for further programming needs
    • Assist clients to secure funding for further training and/or accommodations for successful employment
    • Maintain regular and timely communication with employers, clients and related agencies
    • Perform regular monthly monitoring and follow-up to promote job retention with clients
    • Support clients with one-on-one counselling and group workshops
    • Identify potential job openings, determine employer need, prepare and communicate job postings to clients
    • Provide client, employer, marketing and statistical reports as needed
    • Assist Employers in developing job descriptions and training plans
    • Takes responsibility for understanding and addressing safety issues for the job and equipment operated
    • Perform all other duties as assigned
