Employment Specialist

Job description

The Employment specialist is responsible for developing and building employment opportunities for graduates through various channels such as cold calling, direct mail, attending networking events and job fairs.

The Employment Specialist will also be responsible for actively developing positive relationships with employers and agencies and accordingly design, develop and deliver career-building opportunities for students and graduates such as information sessions and job fairs. The individual will proactively research and attend networking events such as job fairs, community events, Board of Trade, Chamber of Commerce and other relevant associations to formalize partnerships with potential employers and agencies; regularly contact alumni and update the current database with new hires and graduate information as well as new employment partners; maintain the targeted minimum placement rate set by the College and provide quarterly reports of graduates employed; assist in KPI reports; deliver regular career services workshops for students and alumni and meet with students on an individual basis to assist them with resume writing, interviewing and job search; The successful candidate will be working mainly out of the downtown Toronto Campus, however must be flexible to travel to the Mississauga campus.

Qualifications

  • University Degree in business or a related field, or combination of post-secondary education from an accredited educational institute combined with experience in career services, recruitment, or job development
  • A minimum of 2-3 years’ experience in a similar role is required.
  • Sales and cold calling experience with ability to build positive rapport with businesses and organizations for the purpose of job development
  • Excellent knowledge of the job market and various industries is required
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and leadership skills with strong ability and desire for public speaking, networking and presentations
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and multi-task in a fast-paced environment
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications including Outlook, Excel & Word
  • Understanding and knowledge of Private Career Colleges is an asset
