Aboriginal Skills Employment and Training Strategy

Position: Employment Counsellor – Lillooet BC

Reporting to: Program Manager West

The Aboriginal Skills Employment and Training Strategy is seeking an Employment Counsellor to work out of the Lillooet office. S/he will be responsible for providing career/employment counselling support to clients as well as promoting employment and training programs. This position will be required to travel to Lytton and surrounding communities in Lillooet as required. The applicant will be motivated and willing to work closely with the Aboriginal community, clients and employers in the area, building positive communications and relationships.


The successful candidate will be part of an Employment and Skills Development Services team and will promote the ASETS Employment and Training Programs. S/he will serve as an advocate and link for clients. S/he will work closely with the local communities in the area where the office is located. The Employment Counsellor will work as a team with the other ASETS Employment Counsellors to maintain the Accountability and Resource Management Database and complete Labour Market Research. The Employment Counsellor assists unemployed, or underemployed individuals to obtain employment opportunities within the community by performing duties such as assisting clients to identify suitable job options, become job ready, locate prospective employers and facilitate employment placements.

This is a term position requiring 28 hours per week. This position may involve frequent travel so a valid driver’s license and vehicle are required. Applicants will be required to submit a driver’s abstract.

Term Position: Ends March 31, 2018 |  28 hours per week starting June 12, 2017

Location: Lillooet. Head Office is located in Kamloops, BC.
