JOB POSTING POSITION: JOB DEVELOPER (Contract Position until September 30th, 2015) PROGRAM: EMPLOYMENT REPORTS TO: MANAGER OF EMPLOYMENT PROGRAMS WORK HOURS: 21 HOURS PER WEEK RATE OF PAY: $24 per hour JOB SUMMARY The Job Developer provides job development for the purpose of placing Ontario Works clients in paid employment in a field related to their skills and/or occupation. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES • Assesses various job seekers from Ontario Works for suitable employment and targets appropriate employers to secure placement. • Makes cold calls and write e-mails to potential employers explaining the benefits and employment support services provided to employers; including addressing employer’s special needs. • Provides direct job matching of current openings to clients • Meets regularly with Employment Counsellor to ensure successful outcomes. • Maintains appropriate documentation about job development • Applies marketing strategies to build employer contacts in sectors relevant to client occupations. • Contacts employers regarding job openings and skills requirements based on client’s employer list. • Assists in collecting placement data and conduct s monthly follow-ups, • Submits monthly reports as required. • Liaises with other agencies, government departments and job development services to facilitate clients’ progress. QUALIFICATIONS • Post Secondary education in career and employment counselling, human resources or related field. • 1 year direct experience and expertise in working effectively with various job seekers. • 1 year experience and proven track record of successful job development and paid employment placements. • Ability to meet targets and successful employment outcomes. • Sensitivity to and understanding working with social assistance recipients and immigrants. • Ability to assist people with barriers to employment such as mental and behavioral issues, criminal records • Excellent English communication and presentation skills, both written and verbal are essential. • Ability to work in a computerized environment using MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and MS Outlook. • Knowledge of labour market issues and trends as they relate to the geographic, demographic and economic aspects of the Labour Market in the Peel Region. • Strong interpersonal, organizational and customer satisfaction skills. • Team player; demonstrated proficiency in positive relationship building with employers and clients. • Conflict resolution and problem solving abilities, diplomacy and tact. • Criminal reference check is required. • Valid Ontario Driver’s License and access to a vehicle for the purpose of job development and on-site visits is an asset.   Interested applicants are invited to submit their resume and cover letter with reference no. 015 -004 by February 1ST, 2015 to: Human Resources Officer Dixie Bloor Neighbourhood Centre 3650 Dixie Road, Unit 103, Mississauga, ON L4Y 3V9 FAX: (905) 629-0791 Email: recruiting@dixiebloor.ca We thank all applicants but only those selected for an interview will be contacted Dixie Bloor Neighbourhood Centre is an equal opportunity employer
